According to the MIT Technology Review, scientists are working on getting all individuals access to a type of "genetic fortune-telling." They are doing clinical trials with millions of people at a time to eventually be able to provide each baby that is born with a DNA report card that outlines chances (percentages) of contracting diseases, cancers, addiction, smarts, etc. based on the combination of your genes and the research that has always been done.
This technology is important because it will allow specific individuals the more important appointments and healthcare to take into consideration when growing up. For example if you are extremely likely to become addicted to a certain substance, you can stay away from it before it's too late. Or if someone knows they are 90% likely to get Brest cancer, they can get more mammograms and screenings to catch it early if it ever shows up.
